WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL
Stand AGAINST Bad Alliances
Reverend Bernice Belt, M.S.; C.C.C.; Doctoral Candidate
“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of Me; and that cover with a covering, but not of My spirit, that they may add sin to sin: that walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at My mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharoah, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.”
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord.
Isaiah 30:1-2, 9 (KJV)
How many of us have current bad alliances? How many of us have remnants (leftovers) of bad alliances? How many of us are planning (doing so on purpose) to enter into bad alliances? Who are we serving? Who do we honor? What are our motives? Who is our God?
Alliance: A union or joining, a close association
for a common objective, any association
entered into for mutual benefit; suggests
complete unity of purpose and interest.
Bad: Not good; not as it should be; defective in
quality; below standard; lacking in worth;
inadequate. Rotted, decomposed. Wicked,
immoral. Dangerous, injurious, harmful; severe,
as a bad seed. Degenerate, shiftless (work-shy),
seedy (sleazy). Evil.
By simply reading the definitions, our spirits ought be quickened and reminded of our initiations, contributions and/or tolerance of bad alliances. Our spirits ought be quickened and reminded of how long we encouraged bad alliances either to use others to fulfill our own agendas, or to allow others to use us to carry out their agendas; just to get along or be included. We did not experience joy or peace, for GOD will not be mocked. We reap what we sow. After a minute, the evil was/is revealed and we feel dirty, wicked, spiritually molested, emotionally and mentally distraught, or perhaps we experience self-condemnation because we were the spiritual molesters.
Disciples of Christ, do not enter into bad alliances, for when we do we suffer as Judas suffered. Remember the disciple who sold out Jesus to the enemy for some money? Search the Bible and read about Judas. Judas entered into bad alliances against the one who completely loved him…and loved him unconditionally. Judas was in Jesus’ face, while scheming behind His back. Judas moved among the brethren, while scheming against their Savior. We must guard the good that God sends.
Pray for the people, and against cults and cliques that are designed to steal, kill and destroy. Unholy alliances do the devil’s work, and he takes the credit. Unholy alliances curse the family, home, church, schools, work places, community and the nation. Bad alliances stunt the growth of the church body…because the growth of individual ministries is stunted. Our job---pastors, preachers, teachers and leaders who are disciples of Christ---in each local church is to have a NO TOLERANCE policy against bad alliances. Satan will not be happy…that’s the point. God will be pleased…that’s the point. Christ will be exhalted…that’s the point. Who do you serve? Who is your God? Now what will you do? Choose to be a blessing unto God, for Christ’s sake.
In Christian Love,
Reverend Belt
