Angel Food Ministry

                  

Angel Food Ministries is an organization that provides high quality food at a low cost. Each month a new menu is provided to order from. Orders are generally due by the second Monday of each month and then picked up the forth Saturday of each month. Each regular box of food costs $30.00 and has enough food to feed a single person for about 3 weeks and a family of 4 for about 1 week or a little more. Each box of food provides high restaurant quality food, no outdated or second rate food. WSMBC is a Host Site for the Home-based Angel Food Ministries out of Good Hope, Georgia.


Children's Church
Washington Street is committed to providing the best possible safe place in which children can learn and grow in Christ. Our mission is to help children grow in faith and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We seek to accomplish this by ministering to the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional needs of each child. Each session is aimed at helping each child become a part of the church family.


Brotherhood/Men's Ministry Mens Ministry
Because God has divine purpose for men, the brotherhood helps young men and older men understand and fulfill God’s purpose and plan. The men come together the second Saturday of every month at 10:00 a.m. for breakfast, fellowship, and the study of God’s word. Our philosophy is I Thessalonians 5:11.


Education
Our mission is to promote and encourage education. Scholarships are provided for deserving members through the generosity of its membership. Our education ministry is in the process of revising criteria for future scholarships. the Education Ministry also offers after-school tutoring from August-September every Tuesday at 4:30 pm.  Our philosophy is II Timothy 2:15.


F.A.I.T.H.
Forgiveness. Available. Impossible. Turn. Heaven.
Faith is an evangelism training strategy and system linked directly to the on going work of the Sunday School. Every member is involved in the process of winning the lost for Jesus Christ. Our philosophy is Matthew 28:19-20.


F.A.I.T.H. & Food
Feeding. Assisting. Inspiring. Transforming. Healing.
F.A.I.T.H. & Food provides hot and nutritious meals for those in need. Meals are also provided for walk-ins, those who desire fellowship, and the senior members of our congregation and community. F.A.I.T.H. & Food serves approximately 140 meals per month. The kitchen is open every 2nd and 4th Thursday at noon. Out philosophy is Matthew 24:35.


Health & Wellness MinistryBarbara Drain
Through education and medical information we seek to keep the congregation abreast to health trends through periodic check-ups and screenings. This ministry is sponsored by the health care professionals of our church and directed by Sister Barbara Drain.


Married Couples
The Married Couples Ministry is to develop committed followers of Christ and firmly establish families through life changing fellowships, workshops/seminars, and bible studies. On a monthly basis, the 2nd Tuesday of every month, Married Couples come together for enrichment activities. Our philosophy is Hebrews 13:4. The Married Couples Ministry is under the leadership of Brother Winfred and Sister Sharon Nunn.

Music Ministry - "In The Singing"

The mission of our Music Ministry is not only to provide quality music, but also to teach the congregation the importance of a daily life style of Praise and Worship. Our Music Ministry offers a variety of music. The United Voices and the Children For Christ leads the congregation on the singing of hymns, anthems, contemporary, traditional gospel, and praise. Our philosophy is Ephesians 5:19-20. Our Music Ministry is under the direction of Deacon Douglas McClure.


Sunday School
Sunday School at Washington Street is designed to meet the needs of each individual person for Jesus Christ, through the teaching of God’s Word, thus promoting growth, ministry, witnessing, worship, and fellowship. Sunday School begins every Sunday morning at 9:30 A.M. and there is a class for all ages. Our philosophy is Acts 5:42. Our Sunday School program is under the leadership of Trustee Marcus Turnley


Seasoned Citizens Luncheon
Nursing homes from the community are invited to share in a Pre-Thanksgiving Day Meal. This provides seniors an opportunity to fellowship, and at the same time we get to let our seniors know just how much they are appreciated. About 500 people are served the Friday before Thanksgiving at 12 Noon in our Christian Life Center. Our philosophy is Matthew 22:9-10.

Teamkids
Teamkids is discipleship training for children, ages 3 to 10. This ongoing discipleship focuses on Christian ethics, Christian doctrine, and Christian responsibility. Again, this ministry promotes growth, ministry, and fellowship for children. Teamkids meet from September through May, every Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Transportation is provided. Our philosophy is

I Timothy 4:12.


True Love Waits
For ages 11-18. The focus of this discipleship training is to encourage teens to make a commitment to God, themselves, their family, their friends, their future mate, and their future children, to be sexually abstinent from the day they begin class until the day they enter a biblical marriage relationship. True Love Waits meets from September to May every Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8 P.M. Transportation is provided. Our philosophy is II Timothy 2:22.

Ushers Ministry
Our Ushers provide quality and compassionate service to members and friends at every worship service. Each person that enters our doors is greeted with a warm smile, and a firm handshake. Our Ushers send a clear message, you are welcome! Our philosophy is Psalm 84:10. Our Ushers are under the leadership of Sister Norma Green. Director of the Teen Ushers is Sister Teresa McClure. Director of the Youth Ushers is Sister Eveylyn Hamilton.                      


                                                                          

W.A.S.H. Ministry
Witnessing. Assisting. Serving. Helping. 

The W.A.S.H. Ministry is our food pantry. The mission of this ministry is to provide emergency food for persons in need. Our philosophy is if a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? This is one way in which Washington Street shares with others in a practical and meaningful way.

Women’s Ministry
In the Company of My Sisters. The Women’s Ministry Mission is to empower women of all ages spiritually, emotionally, and physically. To help women apply the word of God to their daily lives, enabling them to overcome life’s pain, tragedies, and stresses. The goal of this ministry is to move women to a higher level in Christ, leading them to become successful Godly women based on the standards of God’s word and not that of the world. Our philosophy is Colossians 3:16-17.

The Biblical Institute For Learning
The mission of the Biblical Institute For Learning is to build and mature the body of Christ with life changing, biblical teachings. Every 13 weeks classes are offered and taught by spiritually mature individuals. At this time, the class that is offered is Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, under the leadership of Sister Shea Turnley.

Deacon & Deaconess Ministry

Our deacons are seaoned and spiritually mature. Deacons are involved in ministry, which are assigned several families within the congregation. It then becomes the responsibility of the deacon to help that family become acclimated to the ministry. The Deacon philosophy is Acts 6:2-3.

The Deaconess maintain moral and spiritual lives among the membership, especially the sisterhood. The Deaconess philosophy is to teach the younger women to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled and sound in faith, in love and endurance based on Titus 2:2-3.


Youth Ministry

Our youth ministry exists to bring all non-believing teens to Jesus, to develop believing teens to their spiritual maturity and to encourage them into discovering their own spiritual gifts and talents and by putting them into practice through ministry.


Multi-Media Ministry - T.A.P.E.                                                    

Teaching. Applying. Preaching. Empowering
Our mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through quality audio and video recordings. CD's or tapes are provided (free of charge) for sick and shut in members. Our philosophy is II Corinthians 10:13.                                                

 


    

 Performing Arts Ministry  

Our mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy  Spirit to both the unsaved and the saved, and assist in strengthening the body of Christ through performing arts. Some of our goals are to assist participants in developing self-confidence, focus and poise. Encourage good behavior and positive attitudes and develop a team spirit and participation of other ministries and sister churches.
